Song of Silence

Silence is ever-unceasing eloquence; it is the most perfect language. It is a perennial flow of the language of Grace. Words obstruct the language of Silence [maunabhasha].
Oral lectures can never be so eloquent as Silence”, Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi, Maharishi’s Gospel.

The divine flow of poetry can spring only from a heart which has become still, being completely freed by Self-attention.” Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi, Guru Vachaka Kovai

Your Silence fills the Heart, O Arunachala,
I dissolve in that ocean,
Who remains?
Like smoke rising from the fire of your radiance,
all these words arise
And float like clouds in the sky of silence.
Whose words are these? Who writes them?
Out of the heart-melting compassion of your Grace
These flowers bloom to comfort and to guide, to bless and to protect,
To help the blind see and the deaf hear,
To gently show us the way home
To your endless, blissful peace.
O Lord of Silence, your thunder rolls across space
Eating up all the worlds!
All that is left
Is the perfect symphony
Of the One.

Serene Extinction

Question: Why is maintaining awareness of the mind the fundamental basis of nirvana?
Answer: The essence of what is called nirvana is serene extinction. It is unconditioned and pleasant. When one’s mind is True, false thoughts cease. When false thoughts cease , the result is correct mindfulness. Having correct mindfulness leads to the generation of the wisdom of serene illumination, which in turn means that one achieves total comprehension of the Dharma Nature. By comprehending the Dharma Nature, one attains nirvana. Therefore, maintaining awareness of the mind is the fundamental basis of nirvana. ( Zen Master Hung Jen, early 8th century.)
There is nothing to do, nothing to seek, nothing to strive for, nothing to achieve.
All effort is only to clean the mirror. The mirror is the perfection of the Self that is always you.
The dust on the mirror is thoughts and the ego-mind.
All sadhana is an attempt to clean the dust.
When you practice self-inquiry, you search for the source of the I thought.
To do this, you withdraw your attention from outer things and turn it within.
This “you” who is doing all this is the ego-mind that is the cause of all the delusion.
As the ego-mind approaches the Source, thoughts fade away, silence and stillness shine forth.
This is when you die.
The phoney ego-mind disappears, the immaculate Self shines in its perfect glory.
This is that serene extinction called nirvana.
No more ego-mind. No more you.
Only ecstatic , blissful peace!
Through whatever road one may approach the town of
liberation, in order to enter that town one must pay the
tollgate fee. That toll-gate fee is the destruction of one’s ego or mind.” Bhagawan Ramana Maharishi

Spring

“Do not wander outside, eating the scorching sand of worldly pleasures, which are non-Self; come home to the Heart where Peace is shining as a vast, everlasting, cool shade, and enjoy the feast of the Bliss of Self.

Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi, Guru Vachaka Kovai

Spring awakens
And Nature renews herself with such glorious raiment:
The perfect green of new leaves and the budding of flowers
In celebration of resurrection and rebirth.
Can you awaken too, in all your true perfection?
Can you be reborn, be made anew?
Turn away from the burning desert of this world.
Seek the cool shade within.
If you return to your source,
To stillness and silence,
“You “ will disappear
And reveal the glory of who you truly are!
